Job Title: Scholarship Counselor/Staff Assistant

Job Description The Scholarship Counselor and Staff Assistant in Student Financial Aid (SFA) supports the development, management, coordination and outreach activities of Scholarship Programs at the university. Responsibilities include coordinating the selection, awarding, and renewal of endowed and current use scholarship funds with colleges, departments and external donors. Serves as direct liaison to various colleges and departments to provide support and troubleshoot issues relative to scholarship maintenance and awards, including support for University and special scholarships, Cooperative Housing Programs, Alumni Association, University Honors, Undergraduate Admissions, First Year Experience and University Development. Recommends applicants for scholarship selection and awarding. Assists the Assistant Director of Outreach as needed at on‑campus yield events advising students and families regarding college financing options. Processes award revisions and packages financial aid in compliance with university, state and federal policies and procedures. Transmits scholarship decisions and directives. Analyzes Scholarship Administration policies and procedures and makes recommendations for updates, revisions, and enhancements. Assists with training of college and department liaisons on the electronic process to notify SFA of their scholarships/awards. Works with the Development Office and external donors in administering, verifying, and monitoring scholarships. Maintains scholarship donor accounts via the scholarship database to ensure information is current and accessible. Maintains statistical data for reporting and research. Researches and troubleshoots scholarship administration issues using a variety of tools and resources. Monitors processing of departmental scholarships/awards in the student information system (SIS). Works with colleges/departments to establish outreach methods. Monitors and audits account balances. Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the position. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2 years of relevant experience required.
Experience with Microsoft Office products is required.
This position requires successful completion of a background and credit check.
Desired
Experienced in a university Student Financial Aid office.
Experience with various university databases and PeopleSoft is preferred.
