Job Summary Performs journey level work in the installation, repair, and maintenance of irrigation systems on City-owned property to ensure effective sprinkler system watering of golf courses, park areas, and playing fields.

Essential Functions

Manage, design, permit, and supervise installations; inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain drinking fountains, irrigation systems, and turf/landscaping within Park and Recreation properties.

Loads and unloads tools, irrigation materials, and equipment onto trucks to ensure necessary tools are available for repairs.

Performs general technical and preventive maintenance on sprinkler systems such as checking oils, cleaning parts, and making adjustments to ensure the system is maintained in proper operating condition.

Makes diagnoses of problems when possible or refers to a journey level irrigation worker to provide effective repair of sprinkler systems.

Performs activities such as digging trenches, driving tractors to pull water tanks, using chainsaws, and weed eaters to assist with irrigation system maintenance.

Provides quality customer service and competent public interaction.

Performs any and all other work as required or assigned.

Knowledge And Skills

Knowledge of basic principles and practices of installing and maintaining irrigation systems.

Ability to perform manual labor including use of hand tools such as shovels and pipe wrenches.

Maintaining and operating hand and power tools.

Knowledge and understanding of safety procedures.

Ability to read and write.

Ability to perform labor for extended periods of time.

Establishing and maintaining strong relationships.

Minimum Qualifications

3 years installing irrigation or working with landscaping.

Licenses and Certifications Texas Installer License

Education High School Diploma, GED

Salary Range $22.32 - $24.56 The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
