Job Description Under direct supervision, performs skilled mechanical work in the inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, installation, and removal of nuclear power plant equipment. Inspects and repairs turbines, heat exchangers, pumps, fans, valves, air compressors, diesel engines, and similar equipment. Aligns and balances rotating equipment. Performs welding and oxyacetylene cutting and brazing. May be required to operate forklifts, man lifts, cranes, and trucks. mkdir may set up and operate lathes, milling machines, shapers, drill presses, and other machine tools in the service of machine work to close tolerances. May be assigned as needed תה support decon, housekeeping, painting, calibration, and other duties as assigned by the Company. This position advances into the classification of Mechanic upon completion of basic training, qualifications, and oral board.
Description & Responsibilities
Review work documents, procedures, station drawings and technical information, prepare for pre‑job briefs and conduct task evolutions
Paired with mechanic will have significant interfaces with Operations and other Maintenance Organizations
Assist in review of work documents and procedures during preparation, conduct parts verification and field walk‑downs
Extensive use of written procedures with requirement for accurate documentation of all activities conducted
Perform emergency response duties as assigned and other job duties as assigned
Job Qualifications Minimum background and knowledge requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Good written and verbal skills
Strong teaming skills – must be able to work well with others and be self‑motivated
Candidates must take and pass the Power Plant Maintenance Position Selection Process Test (MASS test)
Preferred background and knowledge requirements
Commercial / Military Mechanical Experience; preferably with Nuclear Power
Maintenance type work experience
Welding, Machining experience
Rigging experience
Mobile Crane Operating Experience
Commercial Lumens License
Familiarity with reading mechanical drawings and vendor technical manuals
Physical demands and working conditions
Must be able to climb stairs, work above ground, lift loads up to 50 pounds
Must be able to be a radiation worker
Must meet requirements of NRC psychological testing regulations
Must satisfactorily complete Plant Access and Radiation Safety training, including respirator qualifications and maintain unescorted access
Occasional irregular hours, overtime and shift work
