WSP is currently initiating a search for a Small Utilities Services Engineer for our Denver, CO office. You will be involved in projects with our Small Utilities Services Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.
This Opportunity Provides technical assistance and guidance for the due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, design, development, and construction of utility, industrial, and commercial scale projects in the public and private sector. Assist with the research, design, concept development, and construction of transmission and distribution substations, power distribution, power regulation, renewable energy, as well as protection and control systems in a wide variety of contexts (utilities, transportation, building, and Federal, State, and local government projects). Generates accurate and concise reports and documentation regarding material, installations, component, and construction specifications. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.

The successful applicant will be responsible for successful completion of assigned projects and for maintaining and improving client relationships.
Completion of these functions requires technical competence as well as leadership competence in working with clients and mentoring and supervising team members assigned to projects.
This role will provide the opportunity to lead substation, transmission, and distribution engineering project work.
Develop project work scope documents, budgets, and proposals
Complete conceptual design and feasibility studies
Prepare construction cost estimates and project schedules
Lead engineering design activities
Perform design checking
Support projects during construction
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience). or Civil Engineering
3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in an electrical engineering capacity designing power transmission and distribution systems in utility or industrial/commercial environments.
Engineer in Training Certification.
Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process
Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Willingness to share successes with the project team
Strong command of the English language
Strong written/oral communication skills in order to communicate professionally with internal team members and clients
Willingness to travel occasionally to client sites or conferences
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineering license (P.E.) or equivalent in the state of Colorado, or ability to achieve P.E. within six (6) months of hire date
Experience performing design for electric cooperatives
Experience preparing project work scope documents and sequence of construction plans for projects
Experience working at an electric cooperative
One (1) + years of experience leading project design teams

Compensation: Expected Salary (Colorado only): $75,600 - $108,130
