Position Summary The Merchant/Buyer, Accessories – Karl Lagerfeld Paris is responsible for leading the end-to-end merchandising strategy for the Accessories division, owning P&L performance and driving financial results. This role determines the seasonal assortment, manages product lifecycle timelines, and ensures timely, profitable execution from concept to consumer.
Acting as a primary cross-functional partner, this merchant aligns with Wholesale, Planning, Allocation, Marketing, and Store Teams to deliver strong financial outcomes, protect brand integrity, and create compelling in-store and online product presentations. The ideal candidate brings strong product intuition, a highly analytical mindset, and the ability to leverage insights to drive profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Buying
Build and curate seasonal product assortments aligned with brand, financial, and consumer goals.
Partner with Planning and Wholesale to develop key categories, review samples, manage OTB, and monitor financial metrics.
Approve the final product line and negotiate costing to achieve margin and IMU targets.
Develop and manage financial plans within inventory and profitability parameters.
Pricing, Promotions & Marketing Strategy
Establish initial pricing strategies, including IMU and margin targets.
Oversee markdown cadence, promotional strategy, and profitable exit plans for aging inventory.
Lead SKU management and assortment planning with an emphasis on productivity and efficiency.
Determine product lifecycle timelines and proactively manage inventory to meet sell-through goals.
Partner with Marketing, Visual Merchandising, and Stores to ensure cohesive product stories and aligned execution.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Serve as the primary liaison with Planning, Allocation, Marketing, and Store Teams on product development, pricing, delivery, and promotional strategies.
Support in-store execution to ensure product presentation, promotions, and visual direction reflect brand and financial goals.
Drive communication flow across teams to ensure timely, accurate placement of product in-store and online.
Position Outcomes / Deliverables
Achievement of sales, margin, and inventory productivity goals.
Consistent delivery of brand integrity through product and marketing execution.
Strong in-store and online performance driven by accurate, timely product flow.
Meeting or surpassing targets for inventory turnover, sell-through %, and margin.
Smooth cross-functional alignment ensuring end-to-end merchandising success.
Qualifications
Education : Bachelor’s degree required (Retail Merchandising, Business, or related field preferred).
Experience :
5–7 years of progressive retail experience in merchandising or product development.
Experience with divisional responsibility strongly preferred.
Prior supervisory experience required.
Skills :
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong negotiation, project management, data analysis, and trend forecasting abilities.
Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
Advanced Excel proficiency required; strong conceptual and organizational skills.
Product development experience a plus.
Domestic travel required.
