The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall management and execution of operational excellence for the entire store, with a focus on supervising and managing team members in store operations, including Asset Protection, Cashiers, Loss Prevention, Inventory Control, and Maintenance. This leadership role drives store performance and customer satisfaction.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
Work Experience
At least three years of relevant work experience.
Demonstrated success in leading overall departments of up to 40 people to drive operational excellence and sales targets.
Other Requirements
Must meet federal and state requirements for selling and processing firearms transactions.
Must meet requirements to qualify to obtain/maintain FOID card (Illinois only).
Skills
Exceptional supervisory and management skills; ability to coach team members, lead by example, and drive performance.
Excellent customer service orientation.
Effective problem solving and communication.
Strong business acumen with understanding of market, competition, and profitability.
Good reading, analysis, and interpretation of business documents.
Clear verbal communication and active listening.
Writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Effective presentation skills.
Judgment in making appropriate decisions.
Knowledge of inventory software, order processing, payroll, and Microsoft Office.
Basic mathematical skills.
Key Responsibilities
Overall management responsibility for execution and operational excellence of the entire store.
Manage store operations and participate in personnel decisions.
Provide daily supervisory oversight to team leads, cashiers, custodians, asset protection, loss prevention, inventory control, and seasonal team members.
Develop and implement strategy for achieving weekly and monthly operational goals; manage staffing, training, payroll hours, and scheduling.
Manage workforce productivity, efficiency, and process improvement projects.
Hold team members accountable for compliance with sales, safety, and security practices.
Ensure completion of departmental zoning and adherence to standards.
Execute assignments delegated by the Store Director in Playbook.
Participate in floor walks with Regional Vice President, District Manager, and Store Director; implement improvement plans.
Audit firearm sales in compliance with federal and state law; complete ATF Form 4473 and conduct background checks.
Complete Firearms Sales Certification training.
Complete Power Industrial Truck Certification training.
Complete Academy Leadership University.
Oversee hiring, onboarding, development, and coaching of team members.
Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety rules.
Adhere to company work hours, policies, procedures, and rules applicable to management-level employees.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements & Attendance
Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
Occasionally climb or balance, or stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
