Salary Range:
$60,877 – $94,499 annually
Hiring Salary Range:
$60,877 – $77,688 annually
Job Summary:
A WWW Chemist I performs routine tests and analyses on samples of construction materials, raw and treated water, or raw and treated wastewater. The work involves no supervisory duties. Incumbents receive close supervision from a technical superior. Employees work a conventional workweek; some evening, weekend, and holiday hours may be required. Work is performed in a chemical laboratory where incumbents may be exposed to noxious odors, acids, organic solvents, and hazardous substances. The job requires minimal physical exertion, though there may be periods of prolonged standing.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor's sizeof chemistry from an accredited college or university.
OR: Equivalent combination of education and experience, including at least 20 credits in chemistry from an accredited institution.
Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license, or an equivalent out‑of‑state license.
Application deadline: Submit before 12:00 AM on the closing date.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of the methodsendidos and techniques of chemical analyses.
Knowledge of general laboratory procedures.
Ability to make stoichiometric computations.
Ability to perform routine chemical analyses.
Ability to work effectively with others.
Ability to maintain records and write technical reports.
Background Check:
Eligible candidates under final consideration must complete an authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint, if required.
Probation:
All persons selected for this position must complete a mandatory six‑month probationary period.
Eligibility:
Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The Director of Human Resources’ decision on acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
Education Accreditation:
Applicants’ education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Credentials obtained outside the United States must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency. Evaluation agencies information is available at www.naces.org.
