Carer Recruitment Officer
Location: Essex area
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £29,000 - £32,000, dependent on experience

We also offer a 4‑day working week – this means 80% of the hours for 100% pay after a successful six‑month probationary period. This benefit is performance‑based.
About the Role We are looking for a Carer Recruitment Officer to help grow our family of foster carers. Your main responsibilities will include sourcing and encouraging enquiries through local engagement, undertaking initial visits in applicants’ homes, and accurately recording applicant information in our database.
Your focus will be to raise awareness of fostering across local communities, generate and nurture enquiries, and keep our database up to date. You will also promote word‑of‑mouth/carer referral recommendations, collate evidence of recruitment activity, and analyse the success of these efforts to inform future strategy.
You will maintain contact with potential foster carers throughout the journey from enquiry to approval, gather information sensitively, support the initial training and assessment processes run by our social work colleagues, manage the database, and provide regular updates and weekly reporting to colleagues and management. Where appropriate, you may also support other agencies in the area.
Who are we looking for? Experience in recruitment or in providing excellent customer service is an advantage, but more important are strong communication skills and a friendly, flexible approach that will help you build rapport with the public and potential foster carers.
You must be proficient in basic Excel database and diary management, and demonstrate excellent spoken and written communication. Experience in marketing or database work would also support your application.
