Hours – 2nd Shift, 4 pm – 3 am We offer a 10% shift premium. We perform a hair follicle pre‑employment drug screen test, physical and lift test up to 65 lbs. and background check.
Summary – Saw Operator Operate carbide and band saws to cut and trim material to specifications.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Operate saw, verify dimensions of material before and throughout the cutting process.
Adjust machine stops, feeds and speeds of saws as necessary to conform to specifications and given tolerances.
Determine what saw blade to use. Layout parts prior to cutting.
Review material specifications to shop order, verify order number, heat number, lengths, widths and pieces to cut.
Load material into machine utilizing overhead crane and to ensure safe operation on forgings that can exceed 100,000 lbs.
Check saw equipment for proper operating conditions, wear items, coolant levels and mixture concentrations utilizing TPM and 6S.
Replace saw blades as necessary. Monitor and report blade performance.
Calculate chain and strap adjustments to ensure the safe lifting and transporting of parts.
Train on and inspect lifting equipment to ensure safe practices in a manufacturing environment.
Check for variations in material density to determine appropriate cut‑off weight.
Complete production time cards ensuring that accurate records are maintained. Complete and move operation steps in production software.
Ensure proper identification recorded on completed part and router, following cutting to ensure traceability.
Complete necessary inspection and quality reports using measurement equipment such as tape measure. Also examine material visually for flaws or defects.
Remove and segregate scrap according to standard procedures. Read production order and follow specs.
Run multiple assets as required. Operate heavy equipment in a forge/ production environment.
Actively participate in safety program to ensure the continued success of the program.
Qualifications – Required
High School Diploma or GED
Basic math skills
Qualifications – Preferred
Use of common inspection tools (calipers, tape measure, etc.)
Basic computer skills
Overhead crane experience
Hand tools
