Registered Nurse - Emergency Position Summary
Provides direct patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.Boundary Reports to the Director or Manager of Department.
Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
Documents patient care provided.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
Evaluates patient and family learning needs and provides appropriate education based on age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
Trending quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed.
Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Exposure:615 Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present for all employees.
Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.
Education:
Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
Level License:/Certifications:
Current RN license in state of practice; BCLS required; ACLS, PALS, and Handle with Care preferred.
