Saving Babies' Lives Lead Midwife, Band 7

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced midwife to lead on the implementation of the Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle version 3 (SBLCBv3). The role will also include leading related projects to improve the safety and quality of maternity services.
Main duties of the job Clinical Responsibilities/Key Responsibilities
Lead development, implementation, and monitoring of SBLCBv3, ensuring compliance with national standards, MIS requirements, and quality improvement initiatives across its 6 elements.
Lead related projects to improve quality and safety in maternity.
Audit policies, protocols, and guidelines; ensure clinical risk management and clinical audit are integral to practice development.
Develop and implement action plans for deficiencies; report progress regularly to the senior midwifery team.
Act as a resource for staff on national/local guidance; maintain effective communication with multidisciplinary teams, LMNS, MNVP, and national networks.
Engage service users via MNVP to inform improvement work.

Professional Development, Education and Training
Support development and delivery of training programmes aligned with SBLCBv3 and MIS standards.
Maintain and update Training Needs Analysis; coordinate and provide multidisciplinary training.
Management and Leadership
Lead implementation of SBLCBv3 objectives; act as a clinical role model.
Monitor compliance with SBLCBv3 indicators; support gap analyses and action plans.
Contribute to guideline development and updates.
Planning and Organisation
Manage time effectively; liaise regularly with Matron and Programme Manager.
Provide governance reports on SBLCBv3 delivery at Trust and ICB level; elevate issues as needed.
Represent the service at network meetings.
Research and Development
Work with audit lead to ensure SBLCBv3 compliance.
Promote research and learning culture; lead audit cycles and policy updates based on evidence.
Communications and Working Relationships
Maintain clear communication with stakeholders; provide timely and accurate progress reports.
Collect and present evidence for SBLCBv3 compliance and MIS submissions.
Person Specification Knowledge and Skills
Sound knowledge of SBLCBv3
Understanding and application of human factors
Sound knowledge of the governance agenda
Sound knowledge of current issues in maternity
Knowledge of audit process
Qualifications
Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
Hold a Diploma or (preferably) Degree in Midwifery
Hold a mentorship/teaching qualification
Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of professional portfolio and revalidation
