Warehouse Shipping Supervisor
Parts Authority, founded in 1973, is a leading national distributor of automotive replacement parts, tools and transmissions, with more than 300 locations across the United States.
We are seeking a professional, self‑motivated Warehouse Shipping Supervisor to lead shipping operations and ensure timely, accurate shipments to our customers.
Responsibilities The Warehouse Shipping Supervisor is responsible for planning, guiding, and directing staff members in an efficient and timely manner to meet customer demands, expectations, deadlines, and all administrative duties.
Key Job Responsibilities
Maintain a high level of shipping productivity and efficiency.
Direct the Internet shipping process of picking, sorting, packing, and processing to meet customer deadlines.
Maintain staffing levels to accomplish the shipping mission efficiently.
Plan and coordinate work, train and motivate, and evaluate the performance of receiving associates.
Ensure shipping associates can safely operate material‑handling equipment.
Develop crew leaders to effectively oversee daily routines of their assigned crew members.
Maintain an equipment structure and level to accomplish shipping mission safely and effectively.
Monitor loading of all merchandise into the shipping department, ensuring merchandise are staged for speedy shipping and reports accurately reflect ready‑to‑ship items.
Ensure completeness and acceptable condition of shipments.
Assist in resolving discrepancies with accounting regarding invoices, packing slips, and shipping reports.
Monitor the flow of paperwork from inventory controls to shipping for timely data entry.
Measure shipping performance for accuracy of locator and shipping reporting.
Monitor X‑carrier, DST, and emails frequently to ensure customer satisfaction.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Staff Management
Lead and supervise a team of shipping agents.
Counsel, record, and discipline shipping associates as necessary.
Supervise Operations
Maintain a meticulous standard for cleanliness, organization, and safety throughout the shipping department.
Maintain a safe working environment and ensure safety and compliance practices meet DOT and OSHA standards.
Maintain 5S warehouse principles on a routine basis.
Direct movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to shipping and work areas.
Qualifications Requirements:
Must be able to work weekends.
2–3 years of hands‑on supervisory experience required.
1 year of shipping/receiving experience.
Experience with WMS/inventory management system and RF technology.
Ability to multi‑task and adjust to dynamic order flow fluctuations.
Self‑starter who can identify and rectify production lags proactively.
Experience in tracking metrics, including key performance indicators such as team member productivity.
Knowledge of automotive parts preferred.
Excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications.
Outstanding customer relations skills.
Strong skills and experience in team/personnel management.
Excellent communication skills.
Physical ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, stand or walk up to 10 hours, squat, bend and reach, and climb/descent stairs safely.
Ability to operate powered equipment (forklift, cherry picker, etc).
Maintain and promote workplace safety.
Securing and transferring cash or other assets.
