Overnight Shelter Supervisor Night Shift Responsibilities

Train, schedule, and develop a support staff team; orient and assign staff; ensure duties are accomplished across all shifts. Provide compassionate mentorship, support, and role‑modeling for staff. Communicate staff timesheets and leave requests to the Shelter Manager; ensure adequate overnight coverage for both shifts. Ensure shelter staff report incidents and exclusions daily and in a timely manner. Oversee nightly operations; maintain a clean, safe, and secure shelter; sustain adequate supplies and resources. Uphold policy, compliance, and contractual obligations. Assist clients in their transition from homelessness to a safe shelter; drive the nightly intake process and morning exit routines. Intervene in client crises; conduct crisis intervention as needed; model and assertive engagement and trauma‑informed care. Maintain accurate daily records and submit reports as requested; submit detailed shift reports and monthly summaries to the Shelter Manager. Collaborate with the Shelter Manager to ensure alignment with organizational goals. Offer client referrals and coordinate with external services to support client needs. Address facility maintenance and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards. Qualifications

2 years’ experience in social work, shelter operations, or a related field; 1 year in a supervisory role preferred. Experience working with people from a variety of backgrounds and educational levels required. Customer service experience. Critical thinking, sound judgment, and decision making. Teamwork skills; oral and written communication. Highly motivated and self‑starter. Support The Salvation Army's mission; reflect and model the high standards of our organization. Knowledge of trauma‑informed care and crisis intervention techniques. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; maintain accurate records and reports. Flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Valid driver’s license and meet TSA driving requirements. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Standardized procedures and moderate‑complex operations; training and experience required. Strong computer skills for internal digital systems; written and oral communication. HMIS experience for data entry. Ability to function with limited direct oversight. Prioritize multiple requests and demands; high problem‑solving skills. Maintain confidentiality and privacy of program participants and shelter staff. Crisis intervention and non‑violent mediation skills a plus. Licenses and Certifications Preferred

Driver’s license, trauma‑informed care, first aid and CPR, non‑violent crisis intervention, peer support, safe driving, community engagement, civil rights training, bloodborne pathogens training, de‑escalation training. Physical Requirements

Stand, walk, sit, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist as needed. Lift up to 50 lbs. Operate telephone; desktop or laptop computer. Respond quickly to emergencies. EEO Statement
