Job Summary: HCA Florida Memorial Hospital, in conjunction with University of South Florida, is seeking a Trauma Medical Director to lead a dynamic trauma and acute care surgery team in Jacksonville. Qualified Candidates: Must be board certified in General Surgery with Added Qualifications in Surgical Critical Care. Be a current ATLS instructor Have previous Trauma Medical Director (Associate or Full) experience with state and regional exposure Have a current, or be able to obtain an unrestricted license to practice in Florida - not subject to any restrictions, probationary terms or conditions No history of license to practice being revoked, restricted or suspended by any professional licensing agency in any state or jurisdiction Have current, unrestricted DEA registration About Position: TMD has authority to lead the trauma program and acute care surgery service. Duties are organized around 12-hour primary in-house coverage, plus 12-hour back-up. The acute care surgery team has seven fulltime advanced practice professionals and six fulltime trauma surgeons. The program participates in TQIP and TQIP collaboratives. Supported by a multispecialty team of Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Orthopedic, Neurosurgery and Interventional Radiology 26 ORs and 36 ICU beds combined TICU/MICU 56-bed emergency department with 2 dedicated trauma bays and 4 additional critical care bays 1840 annual trauma patients entered in the registry Florida State verified level II Trauma Center High volume of blunt / penetrating trauma (87% / 13%) Pediatric trauma (under 16 years old) and all burn cases stabilized and transferred to pediatric center Incentive/Benefits Package: Employment and academic appointment through University of South Florida About HCA Florida Memorial Hospital: HCA Florida Memorial Hospital is a full-service, acute-care hospital with 454 inpatient beds 24-hour Emergency Care at hospital and 3-free standing ERs DNV Primary Plus Stroke Center Level II trauma center Rated Leapfrog A for Patient Safety 3 star STS facility for CABG With over 200 days of sunshine per year, no state income taxes, lower cost of living, proximity to 22 miles of beaches, the largest urban park system in the nation, world-class fishing, vibrant street arts scene, and local distilleries and craft breweries, Jacksonville is a top destination to work and live.
