About the Role
The Company is seeking a Deputy General Counsel to play a pivotal role in leading and executing its legal, compliance, and policy strategy. The successful candidate will work in close partnership with senior leadership and the executive team to provide legal oversight and strategic guidance across various entities, with a focus on governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management. This includes advising on and overseeing legal matters related to PAC and Super PAC, as well as supporting teams in government affairs, policy development, and litigation to ensure alignment with the organization's objectives and legal requirements. The role also involves directing and advising on advocacy efforts at the federal and state levels, and representing the organization with external stakeholders and in public forums as needed.
Applicants must have a Juris Doctor with active District of Columbia bar admission, at least 10 years of experience in legal, policy, government affairs, or advocacy roles, and a proven track record of advising nonprofit or advocacy organizations. Hands-on experience with PAC and/or Super PAC legal issues is essential, as is the ability to lead teams and manage complex initiatives in fast-paced environments. The ideal candidate will have strong strategic judgment, executive presence, and excellent communication skills, and be able to work collaboratively with senior leadership, policy teams, and external stakeholders. A willingness to travel and maintain a flexible schedule is also required.
