Position Summary: The Inside Building Materials Coordinator is responsible for supporting daily sales, order processing, and material logistics from within the branch. This role is key to ensuring accurate inventory availability, efficient customer communication, and seamless coordination with outside sales, purchasing, and warehouse operations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong product knowledge in building materials, and demonstrates a high level of accuracy and customer focus. Key Responsibilities: Serve as the main point of contact for walk-in and call-in customers, providing expert advice on building material products, availability, and applications. Process customer orders, quotes, and returns accurately using ERP or point-of-sale systems Epicor Eagle. Coordinate order fulfillment with warehouse and delivery teams to ensure timely and complete deliveries. Maintain product knowledge on lumber, roofing, drywall, insulation, fasteners, tools, and other construction materials. Monitor inventory levels, track stock discrepancies, and communicate reordering needs to purchasing. Liaise with outside sales staff and vendors to coordinate special orders and custom material needs. Prepare pick tickets, packing slips, and delivery documentation as needed. Maintain accurate records of orders, credits, and inventory adjustments. Handle customer complaints or issues professionally and escalate when appropriate. Support inventory counts, cycle counts, and material staging. Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe sales and storage area. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in construction, business, or logistics is a plus. 2+ years of experience in inside sales, inventory control, or customer service within the building materials or construction supply industry. Working knowledge of building products and construction terminology is highly preferred. Proficient with ERP or inventory management systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP). Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment. Team-oriented with a proactive and problem-solving mindset. Working Conditions: Primarily an indoor office and counter environment with occasional visits to the warehouse or yard. May require lifting materials up to 50 lbs occasionally. Typical hours: Monday–Friday with some Saturday shifts depending on branch operations.
