Rockford or within reasonable commuting distance , including the greater Chicago and southern Wisconsin areas. You’ll represent ownership on a
ground-up commercial construction project , serving as the primary on-site leader responsible for safety, quality, schedule, and coordination.
About the Role Barefoot Land Co. is seeking an experienced
Construction Site Superintendent (Owner’s Representative)
to oversee daily field operations for a
ground-up self-storage development
in Rockford, IL. This is a hands-on leadership role for professionals who value structure, accountability, and ownership-level responsibility. You will serve as the
owner’s on-site representative , guiding the project from mobilization through closeout.

What You’ll Own Daily on-site leadership as the owner’s representative Subcontractor coordination, inspections, and site logistics Safety, quality, and schedule enforcement Early issue identification and resolution Daily reports, photo documentation, and logs
Key Responsibilities Monitor construction activities for compliance with plans and specifications Coordinate subcontractors, inspectors, engineers, and ownership Support look-ahead schedules and sequencing Enforce OSHA and site-specific safety standards Assist with inspections, punch lists, and project closeout
Required Experience 5+ years of construction experience , including
2+ years as a superintendent or site lead Ground-up commercial construction experience (self-storage a plus) Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications Strong subcontractor coordination and site leadership skills Working knowledge of OSHA standards Comfortable using email, mobile apps, and basic construction software
Compensation & Benefits $90,000 – $110,000 annually , depending on experience Full-time, long-term role with a growing national developer 401(k), paid time off, and flexible scheduling
