Position Summary

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer II is the most senior individual contributor within Infrastructure Engineering and serves as the technical authority for Ardelyx’s hybrid cloud and on‑prem infrastructure platforms. This role combines deep hands‑on expertise with architectural ownership and strategic influence to ensure infrastructure systems are scalable, resilient, secure, and aligned with long‑term business objectives. The Senior Infrastructure Engineer II owns platform‑level architecture, standards, and engineering direction. This individual leads complex initiatives across cloud, identity, networking, virtualization, automation, and observability, mentors senior engineers, and acts as a trusted technical advisor to IT leadership and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities Own and lead the full lifecycle of complex, multi‑domain infrastructure initiatives from architecture and design through implementation, optimization, and operational readiness

Define, document, and evolve infrastructure architecture standards and reference designs to ensure scalability, resiliency, security, and cost efficiency

Drive long‑term infrastructure strategy and modernization initiatives, including automation platforms, cloud‑native architectures, and zero‑trust‑aligned designs

Develop and maintain high‑quality architecture artifacts, design documents, and technical roadmaps; clearly articulate tradeoffs and risk to technical and executive audiences

Design and optimise enterprise‑scale compute, storage, virtualization, identity, and cloud platforms for performance, reliability, and scalability

Own infrastructure resiliency architecture, including backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity design and testing

Establish and improve observability standards (monitoring, alerting, telemetry) to reduce MTTD and MTTR across platforms

Serve as the highest‑level technical escalation point for critical infrastructure, cloud, identity, and network incidents

Mentor and guide Senior Infrastructure Engineer I and other engineers through design reviews, technical coaching, and standards enforcement

Influence capacity planning, automation strategy, and long‑term architectural decisions to support sustainable business growth

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree preferred, in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with 10+ years of progressive infrastructure engineering experience or equivalent experience

Advanced or expert‑level certifications preferred (Azure Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, VMware, Hyper‑V)

Deep technical expertise across cloud, hybrid, and enterprise infrastructure platforms

Proven experience owning platform architecture and influencing long‑term technical strategy

Demonstrated leadership on complex, cross‑functional infrastructure modernization initiatives

Strong experience with automation, infrastructure‑as‑code, and scalable system design patterns

Ability to translate business and risk requirements into durable technical architecture and roadmaps

Recognized as a technical authority and mentor across engineering teams

Proven experience defining and influencing engineering standards, patterns, and best practices across the organization

Compensation

The anticipated annualized base pay range for this full‑time position is $149,000 – $182,000. Ardelyx utilizes industry data to ensure that our compensation is competitive and aligned with our industry peers. Actual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include an annual bonus target and equity awards, subject to eligibility and other requirements.
