General Summary
Performs specimen processing, computer order entry, evaluation of specimen integrity and pre analytical processing. Provides customer service through answering inquiries regarding test information or results to providers. Performs laboratory testing under the direction of a supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
Performs pre analytical specimen preparation including stamping in, verifying ID, identification, test process and evaluating specimen quality.
Performs computer functions including order entry, result entry, inquiries and worksheet and/or report maintenance.
Performs waived moderately and highly complex tests under direction of supervisor, as permitted by regulatory standards. Performs daily QC and routine troubleshooting and maintenance of lab instruments and prepares reagents as necessary.
Provides timely and courteous customer service for provider calling into the lab.
Maintains workplace in a neat and orderly fashion and maintains supply inventory to keep work area adequately stocked.
Trains new technicians and /or processing staff and interns from academic programs. Participates in departmental continuous improvement programs as necessary.
Requirements Education
Associate Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field

1 year of experience in the Med. Lab Tech I position
