Facilities and Equipment Maintenance Technician, 1st Shift

Let's talk about the team and you: The Facilities and Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of all conveyor line equipment and minor building maintenance at the Atlanta distribution site. These duties include conveyor equipment repairs, managing equipment spare parts inventory, maintaining equipment service PM’s, and performing general maintenance duties.

This role will interface with all internal site departments and help manage outside contractors and vendors to ensure work is completed safely.

Let’s talk about Responsibilities

Conveyor line maintenance and repair, including line shaft, O-ring, slat, belt, and motor replacement as needed, monitor scanners to optimize product flow between transfer and diverts, adjust photo-eyes to clear jams, and monitor print and apply automation

Performs and manages preventative and predictive maintenance for all distribution center conveyor line automation and supporting equipment

Follow site lock-out, tag out safety policies during the course of the repair and preventative maintenance process

Manages equipment spare parts inventory to ensure all recommended spare parts are onsite when repairs are needed

Assists facility manager with directing site contractor services and PM’s, including HVAC, generator, air compressor, sprinkler systems, fire risers, fire extinguisher inspections, electrical maintenance, dock door and leveler maintenance, pest control, janitorial, and other supporting site equipment and services

Assists safety manager in executing site health & safety initiatives to comply with site goals and objectives. Identifies, reports, and corrects any safety hazards observed

Conduct weekly inspections via facility checklist to identify and correct issues that need repair and service

Monitor all site electrical, mechanical, lighting, & plumbing systems. Schedule service provider response and repair as needed

Perform minor light building maintenance

Manages Materials Handling Equipment (forklift, pallet jack) inspections, PM scheduling, monitor, report, and schedule repairs any MHE issue that need to be addressed

Helps manage forklift and pedestrian traffic flow and safety management, including stop sign, forklift lane, and pedestrian lane safety visuals

Partners with conveyor systems software provider and IT to help trouble-shoot Warehouse Control and Management Systems (WCS/WMS) as needed

Assist with managing site Covid-19 site protocol and disinfection requirements

Let’s talk about Qualifications and Experience

Excellent technical and operational knowledge of conveyor line automation and supporting equipment systems

Ability to troubleshoot conveyor line automation and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) in a high-volume conveyor line distribution center

Must be proficient in pneumatics and electrical systems

Ability to read and interpret CAD layouts, illustrated parts breakdown (IPB), diagrams, and electrical circuitry drawings

Required

High School diploma

Conveyor line equipment repair and preventative maintenance experience

Strong aptitude for using the required tools needed to make equipment repairs

Basic understanding of blueprints and schematics and able to troubleshoot/analyze problems

Previous experience in a related position, preferably in a distribution center or equipment maintenance environment

Great interpersonal and communication skills that lead to positive teamwork with all departments, vendors, and contractors

Strong organizational skills; attention to detail, and self-management

Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently

Positive mental attitude, dependable, dedicated, and strong work ethic

Strong drive for continuous improvement and business excellence

Able to train and mentor other team members on equipment repairs and maintenance

Able to provide “on-call” coverage outside of normal shift hours if needed to support DC operations

Technical vocational training OR bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, facilities/plant management OR equivalent equipment and building maintenance experience in the field

Knowledge of automation systems (WCS) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Forklift experience

Experience in the development of preventive maintenance programs

Job Environment Distribution warehouse environment. Applicant will walk and occasionally sit, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 40lbs. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Must be flexible to work varying schedules, hours, and overtime as needed.
