Contract Details
Position Type: Contract
Contract Duration: 6 Months (possible extension)
Potential Conversion: Yes, based on headcount availability
Start: As Soon As Possible
Pay Rate: $24–$30/hour
Shift/Hours: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Overtime: Some scheduled OT required (vendor escorting)
Background Requirements Safety-Specific Background Package + Drug Screen
Role Overview The Maintenance Technician supports the day-to-day maintenance and operation of two commercial office buildings in downtown Los Angeles. This role requires strong customer service, communication, and troubleshooting skills, as there is frequent interaction with clients in a fast-paced office environment. The technician works mostly independently, handling general maintenance, basic trades work, event setup, and vendor escorting while ensuring facilities remain safe, functional, and professional.
A Typical Day Daily responsibilities include general office maintenance, basic plumbing and carpentry tasks, painting and patching, furniture setup for events, and escorting vendors. The technician will respond to service requests, perform preventive maintenance, and communicate directly with clients and site leadership throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Repairs
Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and building systems
Conduct routine inspections, diagnose issues, and complete repairs
Assist with installation or modification of building equipment and systems
Perform insulation work, IOC door adjustments, wall hangings, painting, and patching
Handle basic plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and carpentry tasks
Facilities & Event Support
Set up furniture and spaces for meetings and events
Escort vendors and contractors as required
Troubleshoot and support office appliances (e.g., ice machines, dishwashers, coffee machines)
Documentation & Systems
Review and complete assigned work orders using internal systems
Track completion and ensure timely resolution of tasks
Support energy management by ensuring building systems operate efficiently
Safety & Compliance
Inspect installations for compliance with building codes and safety regulations
Follow defined procedures to ensure a safe work environment
Maintain professionalism and clear communication with clients and stakeholders
Required Experience & Skills (Must-Have)
3–5 years of general maintenance or facilities experience
Strong customer service and troubleshooting skills
Experience with:
Basic plumbing
Basic HVAC
Basic electrical
Basic carpentry
Self-starter with a proactive mindset
High level of professionalism and reliability
Nice-to-Have
Strong writing and communication skills
Team-oriented, flexible approach
Experience in fast-paced office or commercial environments
Education
High School Diploma or GED required
Software & Technical Skills
Basic computer proficiency
Email and laptop/tablet usage
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, climb stairs/ladders
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. or more
Ability to perform hands‑on maintenance tasks safely and efficiently
