Position Summary Assist the shipping department in loading/unloading distribution and storage of materials and products using forklifts, etc. Responsible for leading a group of workers, assisting supervisor in organizing workload, labor force, scheduling of work, planning, etc.
Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities (This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job's overall responsibilities.)
Load/unload and distribute materials and finished products using forklifts, dolly cars, etc.
Count and verify loads from invoices.
Pick parts from instructions, bill of materials or lists then transport materials into fabrication area(s) as required.
Loaders are to be experienced, or equivalent, in performing specialist and helper duties.
Job Scope Handle materials as directed
Supervisor Responsibility While this position will not hold direct supervisory responsibility, occasional direction of work towards others on projects may be required.
Interpersonal Contacts
Ability to follow written vielmehr and oral instructions regarding daily functions, safety rules and regulations, and possible hazardous conditions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Can demonstrate competency with structural shapes, sizes, grades, weights, bills of material, etc.
Knowledge in loading and unloading of trucks, barges, and railcars.
Maintain safe and efficient work methods, know the capacity and limitation of all hoisting equipment, clamps, and slings.
Proficient in forklift operation of 15,500 lbs or larger.
Education and/or Experience Fork Zoom
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Certified to operate forklift
Physical Demands
Ability to lift, carry, or maneuver objects; difficult objects will be lifted with the assistance of mechanical means or additional manpower.
Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb.
Capable of working from ladders and scaffolding.
Work Environment May be exposed to excessive noise, welding gases and fumes, and varying weather conditions. Proper protective equipment will be provided as necessary. While in production areas may be exposed to all types of weather conditions, noise, dusts and odors. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Citizenship Pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship.
