VCA ARECA is seeking an exceptional
Hospital Administrator
to Lead and Inspire our professional team. ARECA is a state-of-the-art 18,000 square foot specialty, emergency and referral teaching hospital located in Mesa, Arizona. Our hospital and its staff are committed to providing the highest quality veterinary medical care available. VCA ARECA opened in 2004 and is an offshoot of Mesa Veterinary Hospital, a long standing, well respected, specialty and general practice that opened its doors in the 1940’s. We are proud to be an AAHA accredited referral hospital since 2009.
The ideal candidate will have a:

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Hospital Manager.
Job Summary The Veterinary Hospital Administrator is responsible for the overall operational leadership of the hospital. This role ensures smooth day-to-day functioning, supports clinical teams, manages administrative staff, and drives strategic initiatives to improve efficiency, profitability, and employee engagement. We are looking for an experienced Positive visionary leader who can lead a large team of professionals and has the ability to be an agile change agent. Must love working with people.
Operational Leadership Oversee daily hospital operations across emergency and general practice departments
Ensure compliance with veterinary regulations, OSHA standards, and hospital protocols
Monitor and maintain inventory, equipment, and facility needs
Financial Management Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports
Analyze KPIs and implement strategies to improve revenue and cost control
Collaborate with accounting and finance teams on billing, payroll, and vendor contracts
Meet financial expectations and goals
Human Resources
Recruit, onboard, and retain top-tier veterinary and support staff
Manage scheduling, performance evaluations, and conflict resolution
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Client Experience
Ensure exceptional customer service and client communication
Address escalated client concerns and feedback professionally
Support marketing and community outreach initiatives
Strategic Planning
Partner with medical leadership to align operational goals with clinical excellence
Lead hospital growth initiatives, including service expansion and facility upgrades
Implement technology and process improvements to enhance workflow
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field preferred
Certified Veterinary Practice Manager Certification is a plus
Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in veterinary or hospital administration
Strong financial acumen and HR people skills
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Familiarity with veterinary software is a plus
Other Skills
Skilled in long-term planning, identifying growth opportunities, and aligning operational goals with clinical excellence.
Proficient in budgeting, forecasting, analyzing KPIs, and implementing cost-control strategies.
Knowledge of hiring practices, performance management, labor laws, and employee engagement techniques.
Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on delivering exceptional client experiences and handling escalations with professionalism.
Capable of streamlining workflows, managing inventory, and optimizing scheduling in a high-volume environment.
Calm under pressure with the ability to make sound decisions quickly, especially in emergency situations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external and internal partners.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment are crucial for success in this role. The Veterinary Hospital Administrator must be passionate about animal care while possessing strong leadership capabilities to guide the team towards providing exceptional service in a compassionate environment.
