SUMMARY OF POSITION Knowledge and ability to diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, body components and systems related to heavy duty and light duty trucks. This may include gasoline, diesel and CNG systems. May include welding and fabrication.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs and maintenance on all equipment to maximize safe and productive operations. Review and complete repairs identified on DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report) and/or repair orders.

Communicate with managers/drivers regarding vehicle issues and discuss preventive techniques that minimize future repairs.

Complete all required paperwork in a timely and concise manner.

Follow all safety policies and procedures.

Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.

Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.

Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.

Perform repairs utilizing Factory Service Manuals.

Maintain a high standard of ethics and dependability.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of Suspension Inspections, Diagnosis and Repair.

Knowledge of Brake System Inspections, Diagnosis and Repair.

Knowledge of Electrical System Inspection, Diagnosis and Repair.

Knowledge of Hydraulic System Inspection, Diagnosis and Repair.

Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools with the ability to interpret and make repairs from service manuals.

Ability to complete work within Suggested Repair Times (SRTs) and estimate time and material required for repairs.

Knowledge to provide assistance and guidance to Assistant Technicians and Shop Helpers.

CDL Class B (preferred within 12 months).

OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Attend and participate in corporation-sponsored training courses as assigned.

Keep up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Waste Pro.

Perform any additional duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds from the floor to overhead unassisted.

Physically capable of pushing and pulling 50 pounds unassisted.

Physically capable of frequently (100‑200 times) bending at the knees and waist.

Physically capable of frequently (100‑200 times) reaching over your head or reaching out with extended arms to perform work.

Physically capable of frequently (100‑200 times) twisting at the waist to perform work.

Physically capable of working in extreme temperatures and weather environments (road calls).

WORK ENVIRONMENT Normal setting for this job is: inside and outside with occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions.
