Discipleship Pastor - Neuhart Baptist Church
Looking for a discipleship pastor at a Baptist church in southeastern Ohio, Monroe County (Woodsfield, Ohio). Few in numbers, last church service late 2006. Teaching out of KJV Bible. Lead a praying, teaching and studying bible church. Full time/Bi vocational.
Key Responsibilities Discipleship Strategy & Vision
Develop and implement a
church-wide discipleship strategy
aligned with the church’s mission and values
Create a
clear discipleship pathway
(e.g., connect → grow → serve → lead)
Regularly assess and improve discipleship effectiveness using participation, engagement, and growth indicators
Small Groups & Classes
Oversee all
small groups, Bible studies, and discipleship classes
Recruit, train, coach, and support small-group leaders
Ensure groups foster biblical teaching, spiritual growth, community, and care
Leadership Development
Identify and develop
emerging leaders
within the congregation
Provide training, mentoring, and resources for volunteer leaders
Help leaders multiply groups and ministry impact
Spiritual Formation
Promote spiritual disciplines such as prayer, Scripture engagement, and service
Help design curriculum or select resources that support spiritual growth
Encourage personal discipleship relationships and mentoring
Collaboration & Teaching
Work closely with the Senior Pastor and ministry staff to align discipleship with preaching, outreach, and next-steps ministries
Teach regularly in classes, small groups, or from the pulpit as needed
Partner with ministry leaders to integrate discipleship across all age groups
Qualifications Spiritual & Personal
A growing, Christ-centered faith with a clear call to ministry
Models spiritual maturity, humility, and servant leadership
Strong relational skills and a heart for people
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Bible, Theology, Ministry
3+ years of ministry experience in discipleship, small groups, or pastoral leadership
Proven experience recruiting and developing volunteer leaders
Skills & Abilities
Strong biblical teaching and communication skills
Ability to think strategically and execute practically
Organized, self-motivated, and collaborative
Comfortable using church management software and digital tools
