Amentum is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator, North of Las Vegas, NV, under indirect supervision of the Site Superintendent and/or a HEO‑Lead, exercising independent judgment to accomplish assigned tasks. Operates heavy equipment such as cranes, motor graders, heavy loaders, carryalls, bulldozers, rollers, scrapers, and large industrial tractors with pan or scraper attachments. Equipment is used to excavate, load, or move dirt, gravel or other materials. Operator may read and interpret grade and slope stakes and simple plans, grease, adjust and make emergency repairs to equipment.
Compensation HIRING HOURLY Rate of Pay:
$41.62
(Hourly rate set by CBA).

Essential Responsibilities
Ensures work accomplished is in compliance with government regulations and all building codes, provides material requirement listing for work in government acceptable format.
Maintains required readings, records and documentation, operates equipment and machinery related to HEO’s duties in pavements and grounds operation to include crushers and chip spreaders.
Researches and identifies road surface requirements and calculates material requirements for road preservation.
Provides leadership to independent work groups for the accomplishment of assigned tasks.
Ensures quality control standards are maintained on all work performed.
Maintains safe work practices and procedures in independent and small work groups.
Operates general and special purpose vehicles.
Plans and lays out work from blueprints, drawings, models, schematics, or verbal instructions using measuring instruments and standard shop computations.
Performs related duties as required and assigned by the site Superintendent or the HEO‑Lead.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
High School diploma or equivalent.
Prefer at least 4 years of experience as a heavy equipment operator acquired through training and/or a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent.
Passes a practical skills test administered in a variety of equipment, including but not limited to a backhoe, bulldozer, scraper, road grader, and front‑end loader.
Answers interview questions satisfactorily.
Possesses a valid Nevada Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Obtains and maintains a security clearance.
Uses good judgment and common sense, follows written and verbal instructions, is punctual, and has patience under stressful conditions.
Identifies areas requiring immediate attention and applies practical skill to solve problems.
Fluent in English in written and verbal communications.
Works independently and as a team member.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands Job assignments involve work outdoors with exposure to extreme climatic conditions. The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs., stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working in areas where a potential accident could exist or exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire and Safety Regulations and published company work rules. Individual may be required to execute temporary duty travel and work different/varying shifts.
