Job Summary Based out of Rocket Lab Space Structures Complex in Middle River, Maryland, the Orbital Tube Welder will weld and fabricate various fluid systems and sub-assembly components for the Neutron Rocket and Archimedes engines.

Position Level NOTE:

This position can be hired at the Orbital Tube Welder II or Orbital Tube Welder III level.

What You’ll Get to Do

Develop weld schedules for OTW from tubing sizes ranging from 1/4” to 6”.

Perform tube bending, flaring, fit up, and preparation to meet project specifications and industry standards.

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to execute tubing projects accurately.

Operate and maintain orbital tube welding equipment (e.g., Orbitalum or AMI systems) to ensure high‑quality welds.

2+ years of OTW experience in aviation, aerospace, nuclear, or similar industry.

Experience working with tubing sizes ranging from 1/4” to 6”.

High school diploma or GED.

5+ years of OTW experience in aviation, aerospace, or similar industry.

Experience with OTW machines or automated fabrication equipment.

Knowledge of NDE (Non‑Destructive Examination) processes to inspect and verify the integrity of tubing and welds.

Qualifications (Nice to Have)

8+ years of OTW experience in aviation, aerospace, or similar industry.

Certification in welding or tube fabrication.

Familiarity with industry standards such as ASME or ISO.

Solid understanding of NDE (Non‑Destructive Examination) processes.

Additional Requirements

Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position.

Able to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.

Must be able to climb ladders and be comfortable working in tight spaces.

Must be able to move repetitively, bend or twist, and use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls.

Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods – 8 hours min.

Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and be able to maneuver in tight spaces.
