Job Summary / Description FOX 12 Oregon is looking for a meteorologist to join our award-winning First Alert Weather Team. This meteorologist will work closely with the Chief Meteorologist, news managers, and producers to provide comprehensive weather coverage for our newscasts, streaming updates, digital and social content, and severe weather coverage. The right fit for this position will be a dynamic, engaging team player who understands the importance of weather and is able to clearly communicate on every platform.

Duties / Responsibilities

Analyze raw scientific data, models, and other available and relevant information to create an accurate weather forecast for our viewing area

Create a compelling, conversational presentation of the weather forecast for broadcast, streaming, digital, and social media audiences

Identify and communicate the "weather story of the day" to a cross-platform audience

Accurately forecast and track severe weather

Qualifications / Requirements

At least

2 years of experience as a broadcast meteorologist preferred

Operational radar knowledge and excellent command of the TWC MAX system preferred

BS/BA in Meteorology/Atmospheric Science/Communications/Journalism or equivalent background.

Seals of the National Weather Association and/or American Meteorological Society are preferred, but not necessary

Flexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts, especially considering the unpredictable nature of weather events

Proficiency in producing written weather content for our digital platforms
