This is responsible supervisory municipal law enforcement work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. Work involves responsibility for supervising the performance of subordinate officers assigned to a shift or section engaged in law enforcement duties. Work requires the use of seasoned judgment in the command of subordinates under normal and emergency circumstances. Work is performed with considerable independence and in accordance with applicable laws, ordinances, and regulations, under the general supervision of a Police Lieutenant.
Selected candidates will join a Virginia accredited law enforcement agency in an innovative municipality. Career Development Program The Leesburg Police Department offers a career development program. The purpose of the program is to recognize and compensate individuals who have acquired additional or advance work related knowledge, skills and abilities during their career with the Leesburg Police Department. This program provides a career development plan based on an employee's performance, training, and length of service.
HS/GED.
Minimum of three (3) years post-field training experience as a law enforcement officer certified in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Possession of a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
Current Virginia certification as a law enforcement officer.
Must be able to provide testimony under oath in a court of law.
Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, criminology, police science, business administration, public administration, or related field.
Supervisory experience with a law enforcement agency.
Five (5) years post-field training experience as a law enforcement officer certified in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Bilingual in English/Spanish.
