Breck Overview
Breck School is a preschool through twelve, coeducational college preparatory, Episcopal day school located in Golden Valley, Minnesota, with a national reputation for excellence and achievement in academics, athletics, and the arts. Upon graduation, Breck students are prepared for a life of intellectual curiosity, self‑knowledge, and social responsibility, matriculating to colleges and universities throughout the world.
Position Overview The Head Girls' Volleyball Coach is responsible for providing visionary leadership for the Girls' Volleyball Program. This person is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the program, including recruiting within the school, oversight and management of the staff, and development of individual team members. In partnership with the Breck Athletics team, the Head Girls' Volleyball Coach is required to abide by rules and regulations of the NFHS, the MSHSL, IMAC Conference and Breck School.
Responsibilities
Set the tone and culture of the team – model teamwork, trust, inclusivity, respect and leadership; encourage sportsmanlike conduct at all times.
Manage and supervise practices and athletic events.
Work with student athletes to improve their abilities in Girls' Volleyball.
Coordinate the development of the Girls' Volleyball program within the Breck community.
Oversee coaching staff; ensure all Girls' Volleyball coaches work together toward a common goal and provide unity across all levels and teams.
Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team development.
Work with the Strength and Conditioning Coach to provide a year round support.
While abiding by MSHSL bylaws, coordinate off-season training in June and July to provide Girls' Volleyball athletes the opportunity for additional sport specific training.
Encourage and support multi-sport athletes within Breck.
Assist student athletes with college recruitment.
Act as a team representative when promoting the sport externally.
Participate in special activities, such as parent meetings, senior night, banquets, etc.
Attend meetings and events to improve coaching performance, such as professional development meetings, clinics, etc.
Qualifications
Three years of experience coaching Girls' Volleyball at the high school level (head coaching experience preferred).
Understanding of Girls' Volleyball fundamentals and effective coaching techniques and skills, including rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of Girls' Volleyball.
Experience building and maintaining effective working relationships with school administrators, governing organizations (MSHSL, etc.), opponents, staff, parents, and athletes.
Exhibits professionalism, organizational, communication, delegation, and interpersonal skills.
