JD for Lead/ Architect: Job Description 1: BI Lead/ Architect Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled BI Architect / BI Lead to own the end-to-end design, governance, and evolution of our enterprise analytics ecosystem across Tableau, ThoughtSpot, and Power BI, with Snowflake as the primary data platform. This role will guide BI modernization initiatives, define architecture standards, rationalize legacy assets, and enable scalable self‑service analytics. The ideal candidate will bring deep hands‑on experience across multiple BI tools, strong SQL/Data Modelling expertise, and robust knowledge of cloud data platforms (Snowflake + Azure or Databricks). This is a leadership role requiring both strategic vision and technical execution—driving platform strategy, BI governance, data modelling best practices, and cross‑functional alignment with business and engineering teams.
Roles & Responsibilities Define the enterprise BI architecture, covering reporting layers, semantic models, security, self‑service governance, and tool interoperability. Lead BI modernization from legacy tools to modern platforms (Tableau, ThoughtSpot, Power BI), including rationalization, redesign, and KPI standardization. Establish roadmaps, migration strategies, and design principles for scalable, governed analytics. Oversee solution design and implementation across Tableau, ThoughtSpot, and Power BI, ensuring consistency in KPIs, UX standards, and performance. Guide teams on visualization best practices, semantic modelling, data source design, and cross‑platform architecture patterns. Evaluate BI platform capabilities and recommend optimizations or new feature adoption. Architect robust Snowflake data models, warehouse layers, and SQL pipelines to support analytical workloads. Define modelling standards (star‑schema, dimensional modelling, semantic layers) for multi‑tool consumption. Partner with data engineering to optimize queries, clustering, caching, and performance. Implement data governance, access management, and Row‑Level Security (RLS) across BI platforms. Define standards for naming conventions, folder structures, workspace governance, and lifecycle management. Lead BI developers across tools, reviewing designs, validating logic, and ensuring high‑quality deliverables. Translate business requirements into technical solutions, ensuring alignment to architectural best practices. Oversee environment readiness, deployments, version control, and CI/CD approaches for BI assets. Work closely with Data Engineering, Product, and Business teams to build scalable and reliable analytics solutions. Support business stakeholders with onboarding, training, and enablement for self‑service usage.
Required Skills 8+ years of BI experience, with at least 4+ years in BI architecture or lead roles. Expert in at least two BI tools (Tableau, ThoughtSpot, Power BI) and strong working knowledge of others. Deep SQL expertise—writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting complex analytical SQL. Strong experience with Snowflake (schemas, micro‑partitioning, performance tuning, security, roles). Good understanding of Azure (Synapse, ADF, Fabric, ADLS) or Databricks for scalable data engineering. Solid background in data modelling (star schema, dimensional modelling, semantic layers). Experience designing RLS/ELS, governance frameworks, and BI platform standards. Strong performance optimization skills across both data and visualization layers. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to influence at senior levels. Nice‑to‑Have Skills Certifications: Snowflake, Tableau, Power BI, Azure, or Databricks. Experience with Cognos, Looker, MicroStrategy, or other legacy BI tools (for migration scenarios). Familiarity with ETL/ELT frameworks like dbt, Airflow, ADF, or Synapse Pipelines. Experience with scripting (Python, PowerShell) for automation or metadata extraction. Exposure to AI/ML‑powered analytics, embedded analytics, or data productization.

Primary Skill: BI & Visualization Development
Additional Skill(s): Business Objects, Power BI, Tableau, BI & Visualization Development, CI/CD, SQL Data Engineering, ThoughtSpot
