We are seeking an experienced Cardiology Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for a locum tenens opportunity in Asheville, North Carolina. This position provides overnight general cardiology floor coverage with no ICU responsibilities. The APP will support the general cardiology service line, caring primarily for step-down and cardiology unit patients in a collaborative hospital‑based setting.
Practice Setting
Inpatient, hospital‑based cardiology service
Non‑ICU coverage only
EMR: Cerner
Schedule Details
Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Locum tenens assignment with potential for ongoing coverage
Key Responsibilities
Round nightly on all floor‑level cardiology patients admitted to or consulted on the general cardiology service
Perform new cardiology consults
Complete admission H&Ps, daily progress notes, event notes, and discharge summaries
Order and manage medications, diagnostic testing, and procedures as clinically indicated
Coordinate care with cardiology physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary services
Manage mostly step‑down and cardiology unit patients
Requirements
Experienced Cardiology Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
Active North Carolina license or ability to obtain
Strong inpatient cardiology experience
