Boyd Hall## Pay Grade:Professional## Job Description:This position is a non-supervisory, unclassified position in the Disbursements/Tax and Insurance Section of LSU Office of Accounting Services/Payroll. This position processes federal, state, OASDI, and Medicare taxes along with non-resident alien taxation.30% Federal Tax

Calculate and balance federal tax payments to be submitted for payment after each payroll run. Analyze and correct discrepancies.

Prepare W-2C forms and file on Form 941X returns. Monitor the W-2 error report and make corrections as necessary. Correspond with the IRS on tax notices. Assist with end-of-the-year W-2 reporting.25% FICA TaxSet up initial FICA elections for all employees. Audit FICA elections for each pay group on a weekly basis and correct elections and contributions as needed. Audit Medicare for employees hired prior to 1986. Audit non-resident alien FICA and federal tax elections for compliance with IRS regulations.15% State TaxCalculate and balance LA State withholding tax payments to be made twice a month. Prepare the quarterly L-1 form. Prepare and remit W-2C forms as needed. Maintain a list of employees working outside of Louisiana and monitor the no-tax, no-wage-tax elections. Prepare manual W-2 forms for no-wage, no-tax employees as needed. Prepare Form L-1 and Form L-3 for yearly tax reporting.15% Non-Resident Alien Tax

Collects and reviews the Alien Tax Information Forms and calculates the IRS-required Substantial Presence Test to determine proper tax treatment. Administers tax treaty benefits for eligible nonresident aliens whose country has an applicable tax treaty with the US. Prepares payroll data to be reported on the 1042S forms at calendar year end.10% ReconciliationsInsurance deduction reconciliations. Reconcile insurance deductions collected from paychecks to payments made.5% OtherOther duties as assigned by department management.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, 24 hours of college accounting. 24 hours of accounting can be substituted for 2 years of directly applicable professional experience.
