The Role This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated litigator who thrives in a demanding but supportive environment. The attorney will manage a substantial and diverse caseload, handling matters from intake through resolution or trial, including high‑level felony cases.
Responsibilities
Managing and resolving cases efficiently from intake through trial, plea negotiations,ֆor settlement
Representing clients in court, mediation, and administrative hearings
Drafting and arguing motions; conducting hearings and trials Providing clear, consistent communication to clients throughout the lifecycle of each case
Supervising and collaborating with paralegals and junior attorneys
Mentoring, leading, and evaluating other attorneys and staff
Ensuring timely, strategic, and high‑quality case resolution
Staying current on developments in Minnesota and Iowa law and contributing to firm growth
Qualifications Required
Active bar membership in Iowa and/or Minnesota
Minimum 3 years of litigation experience
Superior oral and written advocacy skills
Strong judgment, integrity, and professionalism
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced environment
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, staff, and clients
Preferred / Ideal
3–5+ years of litigation experience in criminal defense or civil litigation with proven courtroom success
Experience serving as lead counsel, includingarguing dispositive motions
Federal court experience, including federal jury trials
Prior experience supervising or mentoring litigation attorneys
Demonstrated leadership and basic managerial skills
