*Job Summary*
The Operating Room Technician works under the direction of a Registered Nurse to support safe, efficient patient care in the operating room. This role assists the surgical team before, during, and after procedures while maintaining sterile technique, patient safety, and clear communication with physicians, nurses, and other departments.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Assist surgeons and surgical team during procedures
* Prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and supplies
* Scrub, gown, and glove using sterile technique
* Pass instruments, sponges, and sutures
* Assist with patient positioning, preparation, and transfers
* Monitor and report changes in patient condition to RN
* Assist with OR documentation and patient care records
* Clean and restock the operating room after procedures
* Operate and report issues with surgical equipment
* Follow infection prevention and safety protocols
* Participate in emergency situations and Code Blue drills
*Qualifications*
* High School Diploma or GED
* Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
* Current Surgical Technologist Certification
* Current BLS (AHA or American Red Cross)
*Skills & Abilities*
* Knowledge of sterile technique and OR procedures
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Ability to remain calm in fast-paced or emergency situations
* Commitment to patient safety and confidentiality
