Position Overview The Head Chef is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of the kitchen at Ari's Thai Eatery, Anaheim. This role oversees all culinary operations, ensures the consistent delivery of high-quality, authentic Thai cuisine, and leads, trains, and develops the kitchen team. The Head Chef sets the standard for food quality, kitchen efficiency, and a kitchen culture rooted in our six core qualities. This position is at-will.

Key Responsibilities Culinary Leadership & Execution Lead all kitchen operations, ensuring food quality, consistency, and presentation meet Basil&Co Group standards on every shift. Execute authentic Thai cuisine using traditional techniques, premium ingredients, and precise flavor balance across all menu categories. Maintain oversight of all stations — wok, soup & appetizer, prep, and dish — ensuring seamless coordination during service. Collaborate with ownership on menu development, seasonal specials, and recipe standardization.

Team Leadership & Training Recruit, onboard, train, and develop all kitchen staff in culinary techniques, food safety, and Basil&Co Group standards. Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and corrective action in accordance with company policy. Foster a kitchen culture of respect, collaboration, and continuous improvement aligned with our six core qualities. Lead pre-shift kitchen meetings and ensure all team members are briefed on specials, 86'd items, and operational updates.

Kitchen Operations & Standards Enforce strict compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health department standards at all times. Oversee all opening, mid-shift, and closing kitchen procedures to ensure a clean and organized work environment. Monitor ticket times and coordinate kitchen flow to ensure timely, simultaneous family-style food drops. Partner with front-of-house management to ensure smooth, real-time communication between all teams.

Inventory & Cost Control Manage food ordering, receiving, and inventory to maintain quality and minimize waste. Monitor food cost, portioning consistency, and waste reduction in collaboration with ownership. Build and maintain vendor relationships to ensure reliable supply of premium ingredients.

Minimum Qualifications Minimum 10 years of culinary leadership experience, preferably in a full-service or high-volume restaurant environment. Demonstrated expertise in Thai cuisine or Southeast Asian cooking; strong culinary foundation in flavor balance, wok technique, and traditional methods is preferred. Proven ability to lead, develop, and retain a high-performing kitchen team. Food Handler's Certification or ServSafe Manager Certification required. Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills. Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for long shifts in a fast-paced, high-heat kitchen environment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, including stock, cookware, and supply deliveries. Must be able to perform and oversee all kitchen stations as operational needs require.
