Sig Pcb Layout Designer For High Volume Manufacturing

Micron Technology, Inc. is looking for an upbeat and talented individual to fill the role of Sig Pcb Layout Designer for High Volume Manufacturing (Hvm). In this role you will use software tools such as Siemens/Mentor Xpedition Layout and Valor Npi to complete the physical layout of Printed Circuit Boards (Pcbs). You will be mentored by senior designers to learn the planning, layout design, and design checking of the Pcb designs which are used in the engineering testers that Sig creates at Micron. The Pcbs you design will be used to help Micron guarantee the performance of our memory devices! You will work with Sig Electrical Engineers in defining the parameters of your designs and you will learn how to work with Pcb fabricators to build your designs. Responsibilities:

  • Develop expertise with the specific constraints and requirements associated with all engineering platforms produced by Sig.
  • Assists engineering in the design and development of complex and detailed layouts of Pcbs.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal customers, Characterization Engineers and Product Engineers in the development of specialized Pcbs to ensure the specific needs of each project are met.
  • Layout high-speed designs using best-known practices for Signal Integrity and Power Delivery Networks.
  • Layout designs using Hdi and breakout techniques for high density and tight pitched parts.
  • Layout designs targeting Design for Manufacturability (Dfm) and Design for Assembly (Dfa).
  • Solve electrical and mechanical design issues making sure each Pcb design package will correctly interface with all existing mechanical and thermal assemblies.
  • Facilitate standardization by being aware of the bigger picture, including design features which will drive standardization and improve efficiency throughout the department.
  • Bring forward ideas to improve overall team efficiency.
  • Communicate and coordinate with external vendors as necessary for the completion of previously mentioned items.
  • Takes ownership of tasks with minimal supervision and approaches challenges with enthusiasm and persistence.
  • Maintains a professional and positive demeanor while being open to feedback and continuous learning.
  • Able to adapt quickly to ongoing project requirements and workload demands.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field of study, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years Pcb layout experience using Siemens (Mentor Graphics) tool set.
  • Experience with Dfm and Dfa.
  • Proficient in the fundamentals of basic electronics principles and theory.
  • Deep knowledge in signal integrity issues, reflections, crosstalk, coupling, etc.
  • Knowledgeable of command of Pcb manufacturing processes and limitations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Hands-on experience with designing high speed, power distribution networks, and Hdi.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cid and Cid+ preferred.
  • Completion of signal integrity classes, certifications, or webinars.
