Description
The District Academically Talented Program Coordinator serves as a resource for instructional staff and administration. The primary role of this position is to provide leadership in the development and implementation of the district's academically talented program, integrating practices within an Integrated Multi-Tiered System of Support (iMTSS) framework. This includes ensuring that academically talented students receive appropriate support and enrichment within a comprehensive and equitable system.
Description
The District Academically Talented Program Coordinator serves as a resource for instructional staff and administration. The primary role of this position is to provide leadership in the development and implementation of the district's academically talented program, integrating practices within an Integrated Multi-Tiered System of Support (iMTSS) framework. This includes ensuring that academically talented students receive appropriate support and enrichment within a comprehensive and equitable system.
Job Summary
- Conducts, designs, and evaluates services that support the continuum of needs of academically talented students in K-8.
- Provides leadership in the identification and implementation of instructional practices, delivery systems, and formative assessments that maximize the growth of academically talented students in literacy and math.
- Provides district-wide professional learning for instructional staff in academically talented pedagogy, including differentiation and enrichment strategies across content areas within an iMTSS framework.
- Provides leadership in assessing, revising, and implementing identification assessments, practices, and procedures for academically talented programs 3-8.
- Provides leadership to district and building-level administrators in researching and applying for educational grants and other funding sources that serve to support and advance district and building initiatives. Prepares grant proposals and administers the grant programs when received. Responsible for reporting allocation and results.
- Supports the curriculum renewal and evaluation process for elementary and middle school academically talented programs, with alignment to Common Core State Standards and/or other appropriate national benchmarks and standards.
- Facilitates district-wide teacher meetings, including those focused on implementing iMTSS for academically talented students.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of educational development in the area of academically talented education and iMTSS, through professional reading, membership in professional organizations, and participation in conferences, workshops, and courses.
- Assists building principals in implementing academically talented programming within an iMTSS framework.
- Provides coaching and support in academically talented instruction for teachers in both the general education and specialized classroom settings.

- Demonstrates strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise, including knowledge of iMTSS principles.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Demonstrates expertise in oral and written communication.
- Models continual improvement, demonstrates lifelong learning, and applies new learning to help all students achieve.
- Demonstrates evidence of professional growth and participation in a wide range of significant professional learning activities.
Illinois Professional Educator License
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience Teaching
Demonstrated experience in addressing the needs of academically talented students
Demonstrated experience in effective leadership practices and adult learning
