ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES Supervise a diverse population of students in the laboratory at various times and locationsSupervise all student scans performed in the lab setting by performing a "back scan" to ensure the scan volunteer has been thoroughly evaluatedReview student images and waveforms, provide feedbackPossess a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellenceDemonstrate effective communication skills, both written and oralPrepare and utilize a course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the institutionPrepare and maintain lab supplies and equipmentTroubleshoot laboratory equipment including ECG units, stress testing/treadmill system, Doppler units, physiologic testing units, ultrasound systems and digital image archive systemAccess laboratory inventory to request additional supplies when neededMaintain current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilizes a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resourcesMaintain current knowledge of all ultrasound systems and ancillary equipment in the labAssist in the recruitment and retention of students by participating in health fairs, career fairs, college nights, program tours, and civic functionsAdvise students in academic matters or refer students to appropriate resourcesAssess students' performance through a range of measurement activities and keep them informed of t heir progress in a timely mannerUtilize technology to facilitate learning and to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others Assist in the development, distribution and collection of assessments for courses and program objectivesBuild positive and professional relationship with students, colleagues, college administration, and the communitySubmit timely college reports and forms to the appropriate divisions and departmentsProvide recommendations to the Instructional Dean, Department Chair, and appropriate college committees regarding curriculum, instruction and division operationsExhibit a commitment to lifelong learning through participation in professional development activitiesAdhere to Alvin Community College's policies and proceduresAttend institutional and departmental meetings as requiredOther related duties as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENTThe incumbent typically works in a classroom environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of a classroom. Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to twenty (20) pounds.QUALIFICATIONSAssociate degree or higher in Allied Health field with registry credentials required for the specific lab courseRegistered in one or more Cardiovascular Sonography specialties. Only appropriately credentialed sonographers may supervise scans that are directly pertaining to the specific credential being taught. Accepted Credentials include: ARDMS - RDCS (AE, PE, FE), RVT, CCI - RCS, RCCS, RVT, RVS, RPhS, CCTMust have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, as well as intermediate computer skillsMust be familiar with interactive teaching methods and instruction via the internetMust be familiar with a variety of ultrasound and non-imaging diagnostic equipmentMust be familiar with digital archive image storage systems PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS•At least one year college-level experience preferred which includes clinical preceptorship* AAS in Sonography•Working knowledge of Blackboard course management systemWelcome to Alvin, Texas!
