Entry Level Manufacturing Tooling Engineer
Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a full-time Entry Level Manufacturing Tooling Engineer to join our team in King of Prussia, PA! In this role you will support the Production Integrated Product Team (IPT) as a process engineer assigned to a support process capability development and optimization for a specific product line as it goes through spiral development maturing into high rate production. The selected candidate will integrate factory process data of each spiral as it is produced to plan, develop and implement optimizations and efficiencies, and investigate efficiency losses/issue corrective actions to establish a stable, repetitive, and high-rate production line. The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of the following: machining practices, reading and interpreting drawings, schematics, and specifications; knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and techniques. Summary of Key Duties for this position: Design and develop manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for advanced machining environments, with a focus on tool building and optimization. Collaborate with engineering teams to review and enhance design for manufacturability, ensuring that tooling requirements are considered and integrated into the design process. Create and implement production plans, inspect and assess defective hardware, and optimize production flow to meet program deliverables, with an emphasis on tool performance and efficiency. Communicate with shop floor personnel to implement process improvements, gain efficiencies, and resolve tool-related issues. Design and develop tooling and fixtures, analyze shop performance, and support Quality Assurance in root cause analysis and corrective actions for process-related defects, with a focus on tool building and maintenance. Support the development and production of weapon systems, ground support equipment, and satellite electronics boxes, with an emphasis on tooling and manufacturing process optimization. Travel may be required to support tool building and manufacturing operations at external sites. Weekend or off-hour support may be required to support production schedules and ensure timely delivery of tooling and manufacturing projects. Desired skills: Design review experience Demonstrated understanding of lean manufacturing techniques and principles, as well as work measurements and labor standards, with a focus on tool building and optimization. Demonstrated experience with high-mix/low-volume and/or high-mix/high-volume production operations, including tool design, development, and implementation. Working understanding of machining processes, methodologies, and equipment, including CNC machining, milling, and turning. Demonstrated experience generating manufacturing work instructions and production processes, with an emphasis on tool building and maintenance. Ability to read and interpret G-code, as well as experience with computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software. Experience with SAP or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is a plus. Demonstrated interpersonal and collaboration skills required in a team environment, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, and production. Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders. Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office, as well as experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as Creo. Practical experience with tool design and development, including the use of CAD/CAM software and CNC machining equipment.
