Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Facilities and Safety Manager, the Security Officer will maintain a safe and secure environment for members and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel. In addition, the Security Officer will deter unwanted criminal activity, protect property and enforce rules on a property.
Essential Job Functions
Duties include, but are not limited to:•Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment and access points; permitting entry•Obtains help by sounding alarms or initiating police•Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers•Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures•Provide protection for equipment and workers along with checking credentials of vehicles and individuals entering and exiting the premises.•Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-services, projects, and committees as assigned. •Adhere to and support the center's practices, procedures, and policies including assigned break times and attendance.•Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner; and perform all other related duties as assigned.•Be flexible in schedule of hours worked.•May require use of personal vehicle

Working Conditions and Physical Demands
The working conditions and physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
•Ability to access all premises multiple times per shift/day.
•Ability to lift up to 35 pounds occasionally, 15 pounds frequently, and 7 pounds constantly; required to obtain assistance of
another qualified employee when attempting to lift or transfer objects over 25 pounds.
•Requires constant hand grasp and finger dexterity; frequent sitting, standing, walking and repetitive leg and arm
movements, occasional bending, reaching forward and overhead; squatting and kneeling.
•Work is generally performed in an outdoor environment with minimal supervision.
Experience
•Minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated successful experience as a security officer or relevant position required
•Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment
•Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols
•Surveillance skills and detail orientation
•Integrity and professionalism
•Minimum of one (1) year of documented experience working with a frail or elderly population
Education and Certification
•High School Diploma or GED Certification required
•Current Guard Card
•Is medically cleared for communicable diseases and has all immunizations up-to-date before engaging in direct participant
contact.
