Job Description This position leads the spray operations division, managing a budget of over $12 million and overseeing approximately 700,000 acres annually. The division coordinates the safe application of pesticides and herbicides, as well as hedging and topping operations across almond, pistachio, and pomegranate orchards. The role emphasizes a service culture centered on Safety, Precision, and Efficiency.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Create and maintain a safe working environment.
Foster a fair and equitable workplace that promotes safety, performance, and continuous improvement.
Assess and plan for the short- and long-term needs of farming divisions, Ranch Managers, and Pest Control Advisors.
Coordinate spray needs with Spray Managers, ensuring appropriate timing for chemical applications.
Manage and maintain operational budgets.
Maintain records on pesticide usage, chemical applications, equipment, labor, and operational reports.
Ensure availability and proper maintenance of equipment, including tractors and spray systems.
Ensure environmental conditions comply with safety and legal standards for chemical applications.
Adhere to all laws and regulations outlined on chemical labels, incorporating new laws as they arise.
Implement quality control programs.
Coordinate with researchers for specialized applications.
Pay Range: $115,000 - $140,000, includes access to a company vehicle and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation depends on skills and experience.
Qualifications Successful candidates must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily. The following are required:
High School Diploma or GED plus 5+ years of agricultural experience, including field management or equivalent education and experience. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Qualified Applicators License (QAL) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Strong understanding of pesticide and herbicide applications.
Experience managing multiple crews and locations.
Excellent project, time, and organizational management skills.
