OverviewUnder the direction of a Pathologist, is responsible for the fixation, preparation and quantitative and qualitative analysis of human cell samples, as well as record keeping and documentation of daily work, diagnostic results and quality control. Cytotechnologists perform specialized and complex technical tasks involved in screening slides of clinical specimens to detect evidence of cancer or other pathological conditions. These samples include GYN, Non-GYN and Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) specimens collected from all anatomic sites. Provide excellent customer service. QualificationsRequired Education:Bachelor's degree Preferred Education:Completion of formal training at an accredited school of cytotechnology. College degree in related area. Necessary Skills:1. Good verbal and written communication skills. 2. Ability to prioritize tasks and organize workflow. 3. Requires excellent decision making skills. 4. Must be detailed oriented. 5. Must be able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner. 6. Knowledge of disease process represented in cells. Required Licensure/Certifications:Florida Cytotechnologist License Required Experience:Less than one year - graduate of Cytotechnology program Preferred Experience:1-2 years of experience in cytotechnology. Preferred Licensure/Certifications:Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor License in Cytology Age of Patients Served:N/A
