We are seeking an early to mid-career Data Scientist with a strong Physics / Math / Computer Science / Data Science background to work in the areas of machine learning, signal / image processing and detection, computer vision, physics-based modeling, and data analysis. This is a full-time, exempt, non-supervisory position which can be based in our Northridge, CA or Falls Church, VA offices.
Primary Responsibilities :
Research, develop, and test custom AI / ML-based algorithms
Train Deep Neural Network (DNN) and feature-based algorithms for classification and regression on imagery and high-dimensional data
Work with software engineers to implement your algorithms in real-time on a variety of high-performance, CPU and GPU-based computing hardware
Quantify the effectiveness of your algorithms and present your results to the team and customers

Experiences and Background We Look For :
A degree in physics, mathematics, computer science, or data science
Proficiency in Python
Demonstrated Python development of custom DNNs and algorithm streams with packages such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn, Gymnasium, and OpenCV
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Intellectual curiosity and a desire for continuous learning
Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate with small teams
Willingness to work onsite in the office 100%
Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS / SCI security clearance and program access
Nice to Have :
Coding of recurrent neural nets, reinforcement learning, transformer nets
Use of Large Language Models (LLMs) for generation of code and documentation, as well as coding of natural language interfaces, including fine tuning and ingestion of custom knowledge bases
Experience with remote sensing (Electro-Optics, RADAR, LIDAR, SONAR) and military applications
Experience with physical data and physics-based simulation
Image and signal processing, computer vision
Demonstrated experience with C / C++ programming
GPU programming, parallel programming, and code optimization
Active SSBI and TS / SCI eligibility
The salary range for this role depends on the candidate’s level of professional experience :
Data Scientist 1 : $90,000 - $120,000 [required BS degree or higher]
Data Scientist 2 : $105,000 - $135,000 [minimum experience of BS+2 years, OR MS+0 years]
Staff Data Scientist : $120,000 - $150,000 [minimum experience of BS+5 years, MS+3 years, or PhD+0 years
