Job Description

This department has full-time, part-time, and on-call openings. Flexibility is available to match scheduling needs. Performs cardiac ultrasound examinations according to physician orders, utilizing a variety of complex ultrasound equipment. Objectively identifies the presence or absence of disease using thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Assists physicians with invasive echocardiography examinations including, but not limited to, transesophageal echocardiography, trans-catheter echo-guided procedures, pericardiocentesis, echo-guided myocardial biopsies, contrast-enhanced exams, exercise, and pharmacological stress echocardiography. Has the ability to modify procedures to meet special circumstances and provide clinically useful information on a cost-effective basis. Complies with the standards set forth by the American Society of Echocardiography and departmental policies and procedures. This position requires shared coverage for standby and callback emergency studies in the evenings and weekends. This may include shared regional coverage to other facilities and/or rotation through staffed weekend shifts.

Required Qualifications

Sonographer certification upon hire. Registered Cardiac Sonographer or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer certification upon hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's degree in applied science from an accredited school in Noninvasive Cardiovascular Technology or Diagnostic Medical Sonography. 1 year of experience performing cardiovascular ultrasound examinations or a minimum of 800 exams using all imaging modalities available. Pediatric echocardiography experience. Familiarity with imaging support of advanced heart failure patients. Experience with echo-guided trans-catheter procedures.
