Jobright.ai Microsoft is seeking a Software Engineer II - Virtualization and Kernel to join their Virtualization Core Platform team. The role involves designing and implementing new virtualization features and collaborating with engineers to enhance the quality and performance of Microsoft's virtualization stack. Responsibilities: • Collaborate with a dynamic team of engineers, including mentoring engineers in the workgroup. • Learn and share ideas continuously. • Drive for quality in everything you do and continuously improve the quality of the systems on which you work. • Collaborate across team boundaries to define and drive team charter and vision. • Provide technical input across the Windows Core and Azure teams. • Design and implement new virtualization related features for Azure, Windows and Hyper-V. • Embody our culture and values. Qualifications: Required: • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, or Rust OR equivalent experience. • 1+ year experience building operating system features, virtualization features, or device drivers. • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Preferred: • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, or Rust OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, or Rust OR equivalent experience. • Professional or hobby experience working on any type of virtualization or operating system kernel is highly desirable.
