MongoDB Engineer

Join us as a MongoDB Engineer at Barclays, where you'll monitor and maintain the bank’s critical technology infrastructure, resolving complex technical issues while minimizing operational disruptions. You will apply software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response to ensure system reliability, availability, and scalability. To succeed as a Database Engineer, you should have: Experience with Ansible for database server configurations Experience with DevOps automation tools such as Git, JIRA, and database CI/CD tools Good knowledge of coaching SRE practices across large organizations or multifaceted teams Working knowledge of MongoDB Additional valued skills include: Practical experience with containers and Kubernetes Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and migration tasks The role involves assessing key skills such as risk management, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital technology, along with technical expertise. This position is based in Knutsford. Purpose of the role To utilize software engineering, automation, and incident response best practices to ensure system reliability, availability, and scalability. Accountabilities Ensure system and service availability, performance, and scalability through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and capacity planning. Respond to system outages and disruptions, analyze issues, and implement prevention measures. Develop tools and scripts to automate operational processes, reducing manual work and improving system resilience. Monitor and optimize system performance and resource usage, addressing bottlenecks and tuning for performance. Collaborate with development teams to embed reliability, scalability, and performance best practices into the software development lifecycle. Stay informed of industry trends and contribute to the organization’s technology communities.
