POSITION SUMMARY As a vital member of our project team, the Project Technician is responsible for the physical installation and implementation of IT infrastructure at client sites. This role involves hands-on setup and deployment of computers, servers, network racks, firewalls, switches, Cat6 cabling, access points (APs), TVs, and all other related IT hardware. A strong understanding of physical infrastructure is essential, as this position is heavily field-oriented and requires technical precision and manual execution. In addition to hardware deployment, the Project Technician must align technical solutions with the business objectives of our clients. The role includes configuring systems, delivering hands-on training, and ensuring seamless system integration. Proficiency in Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Intune is highly recommended, as these tools are central to deploying and managing modern IT environments. Roles and Responsibilities CLIENT FACING Implement new technologies at customer locations, ensuring a seamless integration process.
Understand the client impact ofnew technologies and address any concerns.
Provide thorough training and documentation to customers on newly implemented technologies.
Efficiently complete scheduled tasks whilemaintaining a clean work environment.
Follow up with customers andassist with testing to ensure project completion and satisfaction. INTERNAL COORDINATION: Collaborate with the project coordinator to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Provide valuable feedback to Strategic teams based on client experiences.
Update relevant documentation to reflect the technologies implemented.
Maintainaccurate time and expenses in ticketing system.
Oversee inventory removed from Layer 9 office and coordinate with the Design Desk to ensure proper equipment isutilized and accounted for.
Participate in weekly project stand-ups and debrief meetings and assist in after-hours support rotation.
Engage in ongoing technical and professional training as directed by the Leadership Team.
Update customer contact information in ticketing system and oversee associated client documentation. Qualifications Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in technology implementation and client-facing roles.
Proven ability to manage and deliver multiple projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines and client expectations.
Strong experience with technical troubleshooting and delivering exceptional customer service in real-world environments.
Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences. Minimum 2 years of direct experience installing network racks, configuring, and installing firewalls and network switches
Hands-on experience running, terminating and activating network cabling in a clean and professional manner. Technical Skills: Proficiency with Windows Server 2012, 2016, and 2019 in production environments.
Strong working knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy with a history of real-world implementation.
Hands-on experience with Azure AVD including setup, configuration, and support.
Direct experience configuring enterprise security systems including firewalls, VLANs, switches, and wireless networks.
Operational experience with Office 365 and its integration with security systems and routing ( but strongly desired).
Hands-on experience working with with Hyper-V in a production or enterprise setting. Personal Attributes: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to confidently engage with clients and team members
Proven ability to work independently while maintaining collaborative team dynamics.
Problem-solving mindset with a focus on innovative solutions.
High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality and professional excellence. Travel Requirements: A willingness to travel to various client sites, including out-of-state travel, for onboarding and project implementation is essential.
