We are seeking a highly skilled
Senior Network Engineer with Program Management experience
to support advanced networking initiatives for
Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition programs . This dual-role position involves deep technical engineering—focused on Cisco ACI and Catalyst SD-WAN—and program oversight responsibilities, including planning, budgeting, stakeholder management, and delivery execution.
Job Description
The ideal candidate will lead the design and deployment of secure, scalable, and high-performance network architectures, while managing the successful execution of programs supporting Air Force IT initiatives.
Key Responsibilities – Technical
Design, implement, and optimize Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) fabrics, including leaf/spine architecture and APIC controller integration. Architect and deploy Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN solutions to support secure, flexible, and scalable wide-area networks across DoD environments. Conduct compatibility assessments and integrate solutions with existing network infrastructures. Develop and maintain network “digital twins” for simulation and performance testing. Ensure cybersecurity best practices are integrated into all wired and wireless architectures. Prepare detailed technical documentation, including network diagrams, design specs, and SOPs. Stay current with emerging network technologies and make strategic recommendations.
Additional Responsibilities – Program Management
Lead end-to-end program management, including schedule development, cost estimation, resource allocation, and deliverable tracking. Act as the primary liaison with DoD stakeholders, ensuring alignment with mission requirements and acquisition timelines. Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure consistent program delivery. Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; manage scope changes and issue resolution. Prepare and present regular project updates, status reports, and compliance documentation to government stakeholders. Supervise junior engineers and technical team members; ensure work aligns with contract and quality standards.
Work Environment
This position follows a hybrid schedule, requiring on-site presence in Fairborn, OH, 1 or more days per week, depending on workload and customer needs. Remote work is available when approved by the program and customer leadership. Candidate must be flexible and responsive to changing mission demands.
Required
Qualifications and Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in network engineering, with 3+ years specifically in Cisco ACI and SD-WAN deployments. Strong knowledge of: Cisco ACI (leaf/spine, APIC controllers, policy models) Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN (vManage, vBond, vSmart) Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), IP, VLAN, VXLAN, MPLS Experience supporting DoD IT or acquisition programs.
Preferred
Active Secret clearance (or higher). Cisco CCNP or CCIE certification PMP or similar project management certification Experience with ServiceNow or other ITSM tools Familiarity with DoD RMF, STIGs, or other cyber compliance frameworks
Compensation & Benefits
This is a
full-time, salaried
position with an expected annual salary range of
$130,000 to $150,000 , commensurate with experience, certifications, and clearance level. Candidates with advanced certifications (e.g., CCIE, PMP) and extensive DoD experience may qualify for the upper end of the range.
