Summary

We are seeking a dedicated

Environmental Services Manager

to join our Environmental Services Department. Reporting to the Director, Environmental Services, t he Environmental Services Manager is responsible for assisting in directing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of Loretto Hospital's Environmental Service Department to include, but not limited to, maintaining cleanliness, service and product quality standards of patient care units, public spaces, offices, and meeting/conference rooms and coordinating the tasks of the frontline associates and will serve as a liaison between administration and unit departments, providing the highest possible level of service.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Assists in development and implementation of department policies and procedures and standards of work . Provides leadership and guidance to departmental personnel. Assists the Environmental Services Director in developing the department annual budget. Maintains a current inventory of supplies and equipment. Maintains proficiency in all techniques and equipment used by the Environmental Services Department Ensures that quality standards are met, by conducting regular inspections and making recommendations to the appropriate facility personnel for changes in supplies, equipment or procedures to improve safety and patient care or to reduce costs. Investigates, documents and reports all unusual occurrences to the Environmental Services Director. Ensures that patient care units are adequately stocked with linen. Monitors linen usage and reviews statistics with the Environmental Services Director. Ensure all equipment is tested regularly. Coordinates outside services (i.e. Pest Control, Window Cleaning, Medical and Solid Waste, Document Destruction, and Recycling program). Assists in the hiring process; interview, hiring and training of new team members. Plans work and staffing schedules and areas of work to ensure adequate services are rendered. Orients, develops, and supervises all supervisory/housekeeping staff.. Provides regularly scheduled in-services to departmental personnel. Maintains records of orientation and in service training programs. Assists the Environmental Services Director in completing performance evaluations. Participates in information management, performance improvement and infections control program. Represents and participates in committees and task forces as assigned by the Environmental Services Director. Assists the Environmental Services Director in meeting compliance with HFAP, Federal, State and other local regulatory agencies. Supports and carries out the Hospital policies. Maintains age specific safety precautions including: Pediatric - No small or sharp objects or tools that may injure pediatrics or visitors will be left out. Cleaning carts will not be left unattended. Environmental Services closet will remain locked at all times. Elderly - Maintain adequate lighting for good visibility. Keep hallways and pathways clear or debris, cleaning equipment and tools

Time Management

Efficient use of work time to accomplish assignments within expected time frames. The ability to accept or respond to change in a manner that promotes and supports departmental/hospital goals and objectives. Demonstrates an ability and willingness to reassess, reprioritize and reorganize work time to accommodate changes in the unit needs. Completes appropriate volume of work while maintaining quality standards. Organizes routine tasks to allow time for in-service, meetings or special projects.

Teamwork

Supports an environment conducive to the development and enhancement of working relationships through good interpersonal skills, tolerance, fairness, flexibility and humor. Participates in staff meetings and vocalizes issues or concerns in a constructive problem solving manner. Exhibits pleasant, professional manner when interacting with co-workers, peers, and medical staff of other hospital staff. In responsive to the needs of the department, adjusts schedule when needed, floats willingly when required.

Safety

Follows safety/infection control policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for self and others. Addresses potential safety concerns related to equipment and the working environment. Operates assigned equipment and performs all procedures in a safe manner. Utilizes proper body mechanics in all job functions.

Customer Service

Provides cooperative and courteous service to internal, external customers. Creates a safe, therapeutic environment that respects the rights of all patients and provides treatment interventions appropriate for the age, developmental status, culture, spiritual beliefs and sexual orientation of each patient. Follows all policies and procedures related to departmental/hospital confidentiality, security and ethics. Communicates in a professional, clear, precise and courteous manner emphasizing objectivity and a non-judgmental point of view. Presents a professional appearance and congenial attitude toward patients, visitors, physicians and all health team members. Considers the welfare and rights of the patient and provides service that respects these rights. Acts as a customer advocate. Assists in solving customer problems in a cooperative manner.

Quality Improvement

Identifies areas of potential performance improvement within the department or throughout the hospital. Assists in quality improvement data collection and review. Maintains a personal commitment to continuous performance improvement. Actively participates in ongoing departmental quality improvement activities and Areas of Opportunity Teams (AOT) is ask ed.

Compliance Responsibilities

Understands and adheres to Loretto Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.

Qualifications

Required:

HS Diploma or GED required Minimum of 5 years experience in health care environmental services Minimum of 2 yrs prior supervisory experience required Strong attention to detail Must be able to work under pressure and simultaneously prioritize multiple projects Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with many types of personalities

Preferred

General knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their safety Computer skills including Microsoft Office a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk as well as occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Using proper body mechanics, the employee may be expected to lift, pull, push or move patients and/or equipment. Fine motor skills are required when using hands and fingers to handle, feel or reach. Normal or corrected vision, hearing and ability to speak are necessary. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, sharp eye focus and ability to distinguish colors. There will be periods of stressful intense concentration with more than average pressure used in a variety of problem-solving situations.
